Let Us Manage YOUR Dream

During our everyday lives we all are gifted or burdened with fleeting thoughts and flashing images.  Sometimes sharing them with others helps us, and maybe helps others to know they are not alone.  I hope you enjoy some of my original musings, and that they might stimulate some reflection or humor for you.  This page is updated minimally every month, or daily depending on the people I encounter.

Many establish relationships based on need, admiration or love,

the first two being naively clouded, and the latter blind, but any

relationship founded on mutual trust and respect will endure.

Our character is shaped by our journey, not our destination.

Marriage is not really all about give and take.

A successful marriage is about give and give.

If you give as much as your partner gives, then

neither of you will ever feel compelled to take.

He who pays the bills, always makes the rules.

Why should your lack of organizational skills always

translate into an emergency situation for others?

Like air travel, life has takeoffs and landings.

Additionally the higher you fly, the further you fall.

But a life in auto pilot is not really living at all.

When your perception of your importance

exceeds the opinions of those around you,

perhaps you have been lying to yourself.

No man is an island, if he is lucky enough to live on one.

When you are only capable of blowing smoke,

do not do battle with the fire breathing dragon.

Truly needy people rarely seem to complain,

but most complainers seem to be truly needy.

Never talk down to people with lesser IQs than your own

unless they’re arrogant enough to think they are smarter.

As long as you have a glass of something,

who really cares if it is half full or half empty?

Beware of people who attempt to keep their

hands warm by putting them into your pockets.

If you have alternately soared with the eagles and swum

with catfish, while anticipating and enjoying each sunrise

and sunset, then you have lived your life to the fullest.

Why must today’s constructive criticism be so sugar-coated

that the process and desired result become indiscernible?

Perfection is most often the result of hard work and

constant tweaking, not your perception of yourself.

Death in itself is not a bad thing.  It is the kindest segment

of the dying process.  It is the anticipation that is the killer.

A bad truth will always trump a good lie.

When parents expend as much effort to teach their children

manners, respect, and self-control as they do golf, soccer,

baseball and tennis, what a wonderful world this will be.

I will accept that you choose to wallow in self-pity provided

you never suggest that I accompany you in the quicksand.

If you live with someone you adore, who adores you,

and spend your days involved in activities you enjoy,

while believing you have more than one honest friend,

you don’t have to die to experience the joys of Heaven.

GOOD – big heart, big mind, big sense of humor

BAD – big head, big ego, big sense of entitlement

Throughout life: live well, play well and stay well,

but most importantly – treat others well.

People are altering their convictions and candidness

as a matter of social convenience, not moral standards.

Developing a crop rotation of "excess in moderation"
promotes a healthy harvest for mind, body and soul.

People who are constantly throwing mud

are generally the ones with the dirtiest hands.

When people answer your question with “Huh”

they are rarely pausing to search for the truth.

Why must we strive to be all things to all people?

Why not just someone special to someone special?

There is no better friend than one whom always

asks not what their friends can do for them

but rather what they can do for their friends.

Life is full of ups and downs.  Just keep in mind

you must be up to go down and down to go up;

the catalysts are virtues or vices, good or bad luck.

Ever notice most people who find it difficult

to admit they are wrong or say “I’m sorry”

are the first people to jump to the front

when a team effort is being recognized.

A man with knowledge knows the extent of his limits.

A man with no limits possesses minimal knowledge.

Why do “four letter words” get such a bad rap -

True Love, Hard Work, Good Idea, Well Done.

Sad is an insensitive relative – this was not your choice.

Sadder is an insensitive friend – this was your choice.

Saddest is an insensitive life – change is your choice.

The difference between a confessional and a barroom

is that one dispenses absolution without a hangover.

When opportunity comes a knocking,

be sure to open the door cautiously.

Public officials who choose to live in glass houses

should be bright enough not to walk around naked.

Buried deep inside every man’s heart, mind and soul, is

the only Golden Rule - “Never intentionally hurt anyone.”

When you do something right – be content.

When you do something wrong – apologize.

When you do nothing at all – shut your mouth.

Most people who fear death have not lived a full life.

The American economy started its greatest decline

when the legal contract replaced the handshake.

Continually giving of yourself to others is overrated

when it is expected by those who continually take.

Without smiles there is no joy.

Without joy there is no laughter.

Without laughter there is no love.

Without love there is no living.

Why is it that during the holiday seasons of November

and December, love for thy family and fellow man flows

freely, and during the other ten months it hibernates.

Divine arrogance is the justification for people dispensing

unsolicited free advice.  It is usually worth what you pay.

When a crazy man speaketh, it takes another crazy man

to listen patiently, comprehend and respond coherently.

There will always be someone smarter, thinner, prettier,

richer, taller or more talented but as long as you are caring,

courteous, candid and content you may be simply the best.

The “ME” generation’s self perceived belief of personal

perfection is simply an inflated ego – get over yourselves.

Disappointment is generally caused by expectations.

Accept people in your life with minimal expectations,

and your reward should be minimal disappointments.

The truth may cause momentary pain or anguish

but a lie will open a wound that bleeds a lifetime.

Common courtesy has become so uncommon

I believe the rare experience truly miraculous.

African American, Mexican American, Chinese American;

you become an “American” when you pay income taxes.

Family and friends can be like assorted chocolates -

outstanding, nutty, fruity, hard, soft and unpalatable.

The US Government chiding banks for financial abuse

is akin to Attila the Hun giving advice to charm schools.

“Watch your pennies and your dollars will take care of

themselves” - really?  The Treasury spends 1.23 cents to

manufacture a penny, and they take care of our dollars?

CANDIDNESS – The natural ability to be whoever you are,

saying whatever you feel, whenever you want, because those

who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter."

F O G – The philosophical cornerstone of behavioral

modification utilized by governments, dictatorships,

businesses, churches, secret societies and bullies

since the dawn of mankind – Fear Of God

PARSIMONY – The immoral, unethical presumption,

that you should be continually entitled to enjoy a cold,

bubbly flute of Dom Perignon, when you knowingly only

spend money for a lukewarm, stale bottle of Budweiser.

RETIREMENT – A place in time not determined by

age but rather the fortunate circumstances allowing

one to do only what they enjoy, be it work or play,

as opposed to what one must do to simply survive.

POMPOSITY – A cancerous character flaw attacking

one’s attitude, common sense and good manners.

HAPPINESS - The heavenly juncture in our lives when

someone you love, loves you back, while you are in a

place that uniformly stimulates mind, body and soul.

SENILITY – The driver in the middle lane in front

of you pumps the brakes as opposed to using the

directional signal to indicate which way he is turning.

STUPIDITY – The conclusion, regardless of gender, ethnic

background, economic standing, mental superiority or

physical stature, of acting without engaging our brain.

LOYALITY – Like the dinosaur, pony express and 8 track,

this human trait no longer has a place in today’s society.

The basic premise of giving not taking, caring not using,

and honesty not deception was this virtue’s foundation.

CHANGE – The result of efforts by a individual or group

to alter the past, present or future utilizing extremely

deep pockets, lots of hard work or a divine accident.

CLASS – The exceptional ability to make every person

in every situation feel comfortable regardless of age,

gender, race, education or socio-economic standing.

INTEGRITY – The rare but positive consequence of

our mind, heart and soul acting in concert to produce

candid and reasonable interaction with other people.

ABSURDITY – Local cop pulls you over, and while

receiving your citation for no seatbelt, a helmetless

biker and pickup truck with kids and puppy in back,

speed pass you without the officer even looking up.
